E-mail Andy Hunter

Andy was born in Greenwood, SC,  but moved to North Augusta, SC, when he was two years old. He left for college in 1975, and returned to live there in 2015. After graduating from Clemson University with a degree in psychology and minor in mathematics, he completed a year of graduate work at the University of South Carolina. He then obtained his Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX in 1984.

He began his ministry as a college minister in Tuscaloosa, Al, before serving at the First Baptist Church of Denmark, SC, for twenty-two years as a senior pastor.

After retiring from full-time ministry in 2014, Andy received training as  an “intentional” interim pastor from the South Carolina Baptist Convention. His passion is in equipping churches to become healthier during its time between pastors.

One (of many) favorite passages: This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?  Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.  1 John 3:16-18

Favorite TV Show: Outrageous Acts of Science

Favorite food: shrimp in almost any form

Hobbies: digital photography
